Billboard Groves

"Billboard Groves" is a photographic series of 4x5 camera night shots. The series consists of groves of trees illuminated by billboard lights. The photos are inspired by the memories of being driven through the night hours as a child to relative's houses.  Being from the most marketed-to generation in America, I have conflicting thoughts about the constructs of this type of nostalgia, ones that result from the intentions of marketers and advertisers. This series acts as a nuanced and subtle example of this conflict, removing the context-heavy face of advertising on the billboard, and leaving the fleeting moment of light and place that exist in our memories.
